AGAPE VILLAGE

SIA Architectural Design Awards 2016 - Honourable Mention, Institutional category

Agape Village is a platform that reaches out to the extended community at large offering social welfare services. Comprising a series of training rooms and pockets of green, the overall building design intends to promote a sense of community. Inserted on every level, the multi-themed green courtyard spaces serve as visual relief, scenic backdrops as well as communal gathering spaces. The building floor plate is visually broken down into smaller parcels and inserted amongst the green, allowing activities in the classrooms to spill out into the courtyards. An “environmental screen”, reminiscent of traditional ventilation blocks prevalent in the design of older generations of public schools, was introduced as the building façade to unify the different spaces.
