THE LINQ @ Beauty World

We envisioned THE LINQ @ Beauty World to be a landmark, not just for its architectural form, but also in its giving back to its surroundings as a space for interaction, activity, and community.

The floor plate of the commercial podium is usually conveniently maximized through the relentless stacking of rows of shops upon shops. By capitalizing on the URA’s Privately Owned Public Space (POPS) scheme, we created a communal and interactive commercial environment in the form of an open, welcoming atrium that fronts a prominent junction of the site. This sense of openness climbs upwards from the podium floor, where the architectural mass progressively steps back to reveal lushly planted terraces at the 4th and 5th storeys, topped by the residential tower.

The ubiquitous covered walkway is assimilated into the development, merged with the atrium, to create a seamless experience at the ground plane for all users.

The overall architectural expression takes its cue from the open communal approach of the podium design and the physical curve of the site. The car parking and ramp access, which are normally the aesthetic bane of any development is here creatively integrated along the curved façade to become an attractive urban marker to the start of the URA’s urban design masterplan along Upper Bukit Timah Road.
