Subordinate Court

Subordinate Court International Competition (Awarded 2nd Prize)

The was a 2-stage open competition that was called for the design of the new Subordinate Courts building, adjacent to the existing court building. Our proposal was one of the two short-listed entries to proceed to the 2nd stage. We proposed an 30-storey iconic tower supported by an external structural diagrid that would be a beacon of light within the vicinity. Within this skin structure, we suspended the court rooms in a ‘timber walnut’, surrounded by a ‘moat’ all round. Our intention is symbolic of the impartiality and independence of the Singapore judicial law.
